Free notes manager for Windows
A notes manager is software that helps you capture ideas and find them later. Spreadsheets are for numbers; word processors are for long documents; a notes manager sits in between — short and long texts, lists, contacts and plans, preferably in one place.
SEO Note is a free notes manager for Microsoft Windows. It keeps everything in a single local file with a tree of topics on the left and an editor on the right. There is no mandatory cloud account and no adware in the installer distributed from this site.
Why a dedicated notes manager (not just Notepad)
- Structure. Folders and nested notes beat dozens of note1.txt files on the desktop.
- Search. You look inside one archive instead of hunting through folders.
- Formats. Plain text for speed; rich text or HTML when you need bold, lists or links.
- Backup. Copying one data file is simpler than syncing a whole Documents tree.
What SEO Note includes
- Tree outliner for notes, plans, contacts and to-do lists
- Bookmark panels — several trees inside the same file (e.g. Work vs Personal)
- Import and export for common text formats (.txt, .rtf/.doc, .html)
- Hotkeys for create, rename, search, date and calendar panels
- Freeware for personal and business use — share the original installer
Example: a freelancer’s day-one file
- Create nodes: Inbox, Clients, Templates, Finance, Archive
- Under Clients, add one branch per client with meeting notes and passwords hints (keep secrets careful)
- Put reusable email replies under Templates
- Once a week, move finished topics into Archive so the active tree stays short
Example: a student file
- Courses → each subject → lectures / reading / exams
- Projects → term papers with sources and drafts
- Admin → deadlines, dorm contacts, scholarship notes

Who it is (and is not) for
Good fit: people who want an offline Windows archive without subscriptions. Poor fit: teams that need live collaborative editing or phone-first sync — use a cloud app for that, and keep SEO Note for the private local vault if you like.
