From Telegram Saved Messages to a notes tree
Saved Messages is a junk drawer that scrolls forever: recipes, API snippets, “read later” posts, voice-note reminders, screenshots of error text. Favorites and pinned chats help for a week, then you search “that thing about invoices” and get forty forwards. The chat was a capture net. It was never an archive.
Three builds ship from this site. SEO Note 2.1 is the current one: an Electron app (about 121 MB installer) for Windows 10/11 64-bit and Linux x64, with Markdown, the tree editor, AI talking to a model you connect — a local one or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint, a web clipper and git sync of the file. For Android 6.0 and newer there is a release-signed APK (~10 MB) of the same interface; on the phone notes live as a folder of Markdown files on the device, and passwords, sync, the clipper and AI answer there with an explicit refusal. The classic build 1.3.34 (~2.5 MB, Win32) stays on the download page for Windows 7, 8 and 32-bit PCs, where 2.1 does not install; its notes file is .seo. All three work offline with no account: pick your build, or read how 2.1 and 1.3.34 differ.
SEO Note is a free Windows tree outliner (one local file, no account, no mobile sync; 2.1 is a ~121 MB Electron installer, the classic 1.3.34 build ~2.5 MB). Empty the drawer into a hierarchy you can search offline. AI may help cluster labels after you wrote a one-line takeaway for each keep — not before, and only through a model you connect. Pattern cousins: browser tabs to a notes tree and source of truth for AI.
Capture net vs knowledge tree
In SEO Note
- Takeaways you own
- Topic parents
- Links + date saved
- Drop / later queue
In Telegram / AI
- Raw forwards
- Voice / media inbox
- Cluster suggestions
- Disposable sorts
If the only record of an idea is a forwarded channel post, you borrowed it. The tree needs your sentence.
Tree skeleton for the migration
Inbox from Telegram Triage — this week Keep? Drop Topics Work — invoicing Craft — writing Home — repairs Reference Links (URL + why) Snippets (code / commands) People / chats (no private dumps) AI scratch — cluster passes (dated) Archive 2026-Q1 emptiedTriage is a parking lot, not a shrine. Topics hold keepers after you write a takeaway. Reference is for URLs and snippets that must stay verbatim — still add a why-line.
Symptoms Saved Messages became the second brain
- You forward to yourself “so you don’t lose it” and never open it again
- Search returns the same channel post three times under different dates
- A work decision lives only inside a private group forward you cannot find offline
- You ask AI to “organize my Telegram export” and get confident folders for content you never read
What to paste into AI
Paste a list of your one-line takeaways (plus optional topic guesses), not fifty raw message exports. Ask for cluster labels and a suggested parent map.
Prompt: I already wrote these takeaways from Saved Messages. Do not invent content I did not list. Group into 4–7 topic parents. Flag near-duplicates. Suggest which 3 to process first. --- [paste 10–30 one-liners you wrote]Do not paste: private chats wholesale, other people’s phone numbers, payment screenshots, session exports, or channel dumps that include members’ personal data. Favorites are yours to curate — not a bulk upload into a model.How-to in one sitting (one screenful of Saved)
- Create Inbox from Telegram → Triage / Topics / Reference / AI scratch.
- Open Saved Messages; process only what fits on one or two scrolls — not the whole history tonight.
- For each item: Drop (delete or unfollow habit) or Keep. Keeps get a child under Triage with your one-line takeaway + link/date if useful.
- Move clear keeps under a Topic parent; put bare URLs under Reference with a why.
- When Triage has 10–30 one-liners, optional: paste that list into AI for cluster suggestions; rename Topics to match what you accept.
- Clear the processed stretch in Telegram (or tag it locally as done) so the drawer stops lying that everything is still “saved usefully.”
- Schedule the next sitting; empty Archive by quarter if the Inbox parent gets heavy.

Live in Saved Messages Tree after triage Find “that tip” Search + scroll Topic parent Ownership Forwarded prose Your takeaway line Offline App + account Local file AI help Tempting full dump Cluster after curation Pitfalls and limits
- Exporting everything into the notes file “to sort later” — you moved the junk drawer, you did not tidy it
- Letting AI summarize forwards before you write a takeaway — fluent plagiarism of a channel
- Mixing work secrets from a private group into the same paste as recipes — separate Topics; watch the callout
- SEO Note will not sync with Telegram, auto-import Saved Messages, or run on your phone as a second client
- Media-heavy saves (video courses, huge PDFs): store the file elsewhere; in the tree keep title + path + takeaway
- No bundled model — clustering runs through the endpoint you connect; the APK and the classic 1.3.34 build have no AI
Freelancers often discover half their “client ideas” were Saved forwards — pair this cleanup with freelancer notes tree. If you prefer PARA buckets, park Topics under Areas and short campaigns under Projects: PARA in a notes tree. Atomic leaves for deeper PKM: Zettelkasten in an outliner. Skeletons: templates.

Mini FAQ
Can SEO Note import my Saved Messages automatically? It will not sync with Telegram, auto-import Saved Messages, or run on your phone as a second client. Clustering is a 2.1 action over the notes you picked — through a model you connect, with no embeddings behind it, and AI can be switched off.
How much of Saved Messages should I sort in one sitting? Only what fits on one or two scrolls, not the whole history tonight. Schedule the next sitting, and empty the Archive by quarter if the Inbox parent gets heavy.
Should AI summarize my forwards before I write anything? Write your own one-line takeaway for each keep first, then paste those one-liners for cluster labels and a parent map. Summarizing raw forwards before that is fluent plagiarism of a channel.
What should I keep out of a Telegram cleanup paste? Private chats wholesale, other people's phone numbers, payment screenshots, session exports and channel dumps that include members' personal data. Favorites are yours to curate, not a bulk upload.
Where do bare links and code snippets go in the tree? Bare URLs go under Reference with a why-line, since they must stay verbatim; clear keeps move under a Topic parent. For media-heavy saves, store the file elsewhere and keep title, path and takeaway.
